Yelp Elite! – Review of the Day – Mel’s Hot Dogs

by Nicole Lee

I don’t double post in a single day often, but this seemed like a good reason to start.

Last night Yelp Tampa’s new community manager gathered us for our very first official get together at Cheap. I’ve been a part of this community for the better part of five years and have met some of my best friends through this website. It’s homey, honest and overall the best review site I’ve found on the whole of the internet. So when they announced we would finally be on the Yelp! map I was thrilled.

Now, adding to my list of accomplishments they have also chosen one of my reviews as “Review of the Day” to be displayed on the main page for everyone to see. Not that it’s a huge thing and carries next to no bragging rights, it does make me feel good. Knowing that I am helping people in their daily choices for eateries.

I’m really looking forward to seeing the new heights we can reach and what Tampa can get out of having such a wonderful group working toward a bigger and brighter tomorrow!

Wednesday Cook Night – Special Edition with birthdays, pie and memories

by Nicole Lee

When I was growing my my mother’s parents lived with us for the better part of my life. It was an experience that I know most children don’t get and as look back now that they’re both gone I have some of the best memories of them. More than the average person has of their grandparents. And a lot of those memories revolve around food. Poppy was a wonderful cook (and Mom says Nanny was too but that was before they lived with us) and my mother learned some great stuff from them, as well as inheriting the cookbooks!

It was no surprise to me, in this case, that my brother requested Ow-yok-sung for his birthday dinner. Now, keep in mind, my brother’s and and mother’s birthdays are June 5th and mine is June 17th. So within twelve days we get all three of us out of the way. Now that we’re older and don’t have Barbie themed sleep over parties or something of the like it’s usually easier for us to get together and celebrate all at once. So Mom made Nanny and Poppy’s Ow-yok-sung, we drank Poppy’s sweet old fashioneds, ate delicious sour cream apple pie (my request!)  and talked about all sorts of memories. Overall it was one of the best birthdays I can remember. We’ll have to see what Scott comes up with to beat it. ;)

(That’s Mom’s hand.)

Introductions all around

by Nicole Lee

Welcome one and all. For those of you stumbling across me I’m excited to meet you! To those that know me, I’m glad you’re here.

My name is Nicole Lee, I’m twenty-four years old and live, eat and photograph the Tampa Bay area in Florida. I live with my two wonderful cats, am with the love of my life and work for the sake of paying bills.

I eat more than any normal person should and the only reason I work out is so I can eat like more than should be allowed. I drink like a fish out of water. I photograph everything be it with my phone or my camera. I dance, sing, laugh, speak sarcasm fluently and cannot wait to get to know you better.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is all for the moment.
