Caturday Challenges

by Nicole Lee

I find it exceptionally hard to photograph black cats, which makes Caturday exceptionally hard for me to follow through on. I have bad lighting in my house and my cats are entirely black. I cannot pick up good detail in their fur, and their eyes look like they are coming out of a black pit. That said, I want to photograph them well. I don’t want to miss these years of their lives. I look back and I don’t have nearly  enough photos of either of them as kittens.

So here’s my question to you- if you have a black cat, or if you know someone that does, please let me know how you get decent photos. Exposure, ISO, post processing all of it.

Thank you in advance for your advice!

Nameless Caturday with Loki

by Nicole Lee

Dear Readers,

I have hijacked Nicole’s computer in hopes of getting some help from all of you. You see, I have this new toy and other than Frost it’s all that keeps me company through the long days Nicole is working and the nights she spends with Scott’s catbabies (she asked me to tell you she’ll be introducing all of them soon too).

So all of that aside I am having some serious problems naming my new little friend. I have a picture too, so maybe you can give me some suggestions. Things to know:

  • It does not make any sounds
  • It’s stuffed just perfectly so it’s squishy, but not too firm
  • I carry it with me all of the time
  • It’s my new snuggle buddy

Please see below and let me what you think! I greatly appreciate your help and thank you in advance. I’m going to turn this back over to Nicole now, so look forward to some more of her silly, nonsensical ramblings I mean, pictures and events coming soon!

Most humbly yours,

Loki

Introductions all around – Caturday with Loki

by Nicole Lee

Now, I know Frost told you all that Loki is the more social of the two of them, but he can be a little shy. I’m trying to get him to open up and be a little more out there so I got him on a leash and took him outside today! Unfortunately it was very, very hot and he was still getting used to the harness and leash. By the time the event was complete he was ready to just relax in a corner (as far away from me as he could get) rather than tell you guys about Caturday. Either way, it was a fun time and I think he’s going to start liking it a little more. I’ll make sure he gives you a little more insight into the Life of Loki the next time he pops in for a post. :)

Introductions all around – Caturday with Frost

by Nicole Lee

My dear readers,

Nicole insisted that I introduce myself to you all. I told her no. Obviously, somehow, I’ve lost. But! Do not get used to this. Loki is the social one, and it’s not that I don’t want to know all of you, it’s just that my Caturdays are my Caturdays.

Either way, let me get this over with. My name is the Black Frost (after the Norse giants), but you can call me Frost or Basement Cat. I’ve been living with Nicole since she adopted me on April 10th, 2006. I was a measly eight weeks old and she could hold me in the palm of her hand. I have grown quite a lot in the last five years, and weigh in at a healthy 12 pounds.

I love catnip, catnaps, pushing things off tables, walking over sleeping human bodies (especially Scott), chasing bugs, milk, cheese, and roleplaying as my inner panther. Please see below.

I don’t think there’s much more for me to say. I am going to go back to minding my own Caturday. If you have anything else you want to know just ask Nicole. I have the sinking feeling I won’t be getting away from this forever. Enjoy your weekend, everyone.

Most sincerely,

Frost
