Lovely Lunch Date with Mom and Dad

by Nicole Lee

Saturday my parents decided to pick me up for the afternoon to hang out, do lunch and just spend some time together. With Mom’s birthday being June 5th, mine June 17th and Father’s Day June 19th it just made sense to spend some time enjoying each other’s company. We went out to St. Pete and I am including the photos from the lunch we had, but I am not really reviewing the restaurant. That said- Fresco’s Waterfront was delicious. So we enjoyed a couple of cocktails, talked about home, work, life and other odds/ends, checked out some local shops and even dropped by Gulfport Beach. It was greatly relaxing and a ton of fun.

Tampa Bay Blues Festival – April 8-10, 2011

by Nicole Lee

I love live music. Especially when it’s good live music. Though, when it really comes down to it, I’m willing to listen to just about anyone play for the sake of new and exciting experiences (with the exception of modern pop-country, in which case I would rather, well, just about anything). So when Scott said, “Tampa Bay Blues Festival in St. Pete on Sunday?” I was all over it. Then when he followed it up with , “Trombone Shorty is even going to be there!” I almost died inside.

When I said I love live music I meant real music. And Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue? That’s as real as it gets. The man is only six months older than me but has a talent beyond words. As his nick name suggestions he is a trombonist (of the highest caliber) out of the New Orleans area. This is the second time I was able to see him perform and while this was a much less intimate venue the feel was the same. Vibrant, boisterous and soul moving. If you ever, ever, ever get the chance to see him play – do it. Also, I got my picture with him. :)
