Review – New Tampa, FL – SukoThai

by Nicole Lee

I think I’ve made it pretty clear at this point in the game that I love trying new things- even if I hate them and wish I’d been dead instead. So when Scott and I stumbled across a Japanese-Thai restaurant tucked into a completely dark parking lot across the street from the New Tampa movie theater I was all for it. That was last December and we have DEFINITELY been back. Just this past weekend we went with Scott’s dad and girlfriend to share the love.

Not only is their menu fabulously large, but the cooks are Thai. The first time we went in we asked for our food Thai hot as we always do. We insisted it’s what we wanted, we knew what we were doing and they couldn’t scare us off. Did it happen? For the first time since I’ve been Stateside YES. It was Thai hot and tasted like heaven. The cooks came out to watch us and started snickering before we started in. They were a little surprised we could take the heat, but it was clear they were impressed and appreciative. Each time they’ve held up their end of the bargain, producing great flavors, hot food, and attentive service.

We haven’t tried the sushi or Japanese menu, but if it’s half as good as the Thai they’re on the game and I advise everyone to drop what you’re doing right this moment and go here STAT. Just kidding. But really. I would recommend you put this on your “list of things to try” and let me know what you think. Trust me, I think you’ll be more than pleased. :)
